What We Do
“Spatial computing in everyday work”
Open-source XR desktop environment
Zwin is an open-source window system that enables an XR native desktop environment.
It works on Ubuntu/Arch Linux and Meta Quest 2/Quest Pro.
Zwin uses a custom protocol that extends Wayland, allowing multiple 3D applications to be displayed in parallel, just like 2D windows. It breaks through the traditional constraint of 'VR as a single full-screen app,' enabling spatial multitasking—such as editing models in Blender while referencing documents in Chrome.
Furthermore, it allows 2D PC applications to be placed and enlarged in VR space as-is, enabling you to build a workspace that transcends screen size limitations.
With the 'seamless switch' function, you can immediately return to a 2D monitor while preserving window arrangements when removing the headset, allowing you to freely move between VR and 2D desktop environments depending on fatigue or situation.
By installing the reference compositor 'Zen,' you can try v0.1 β right now while maintaining your existing Linux environment. Future plans include feature stabilization and hand tracking support.
